My To-Do

Take the public bus.

Always carry the camera along.

Spend an hour simply strumming and singing my heart out.

Spend an hour reading about things I never knew or imagined existed.

Drink down a bottle of warm water the first thing in the morning. And whenever I feel tempted to leave it half-drunk, say ‘Detox’ inside the head until I’m ready to resume drinking. The word has something very desirably impelling about it.

Call friends. Listen. Talk. Share. Laugh.

Take the car out for a short drive.

Write to the newspapers. Call the customer care centres of brands I use, Write to the brands I love (even to the candy folks who leave their email ids on the wrapper for feedback. Feed them back. Surprize them.)

Eat healthy. Ask my stomach if it’s hungry, and listen to it respond.

Cook a meal for someone.

Study, since I love to. Lose myself into one thing I love to study. Like I used to when I was a kid.

Take a walk in the evening. Smile and gather smiles.

Wear pretty clothes at home. Just for myself.

Write, write and write all day.

Write letters to myself.

Write letters to loved ones. Then go post them.

Talk to teachers like me. Talk to writers like me. Talk to singers like me. Build community.

Wake up in the middle of the night, and watch the gleaming moon from between the misty clouds.

Stay awake in bed, and think fancy a night years ahead.

Keep myself happy. And hopeful. At all times.

Even when I wake up in the middle of the night to watch the moon from between the misty clouds.
