IF

Tall you stand, a noble man,
Only if you can understand,
That you might have have to stand alone
And keep your heart as strong as stone
but pure and warm as a dove newborn
and wait- of the people do be warned
who’ll wan’t to see you falter and fall
but it is in you to surprise them all..

by dusting off your limbs the sand
and marching on with fisted hands
fearless you must tread toward
all you’re thrown that’s untoward..
and forever hold your faith, your grit, your word
above the conflicting voices heard.

(This poem is an afterglow of having discovered Rudyard Kipling’s stirring poem ‘If ‘. Do read it. You’ll love it!)
