Stranger Ways: Harshness and beauty

The splash of cold water against her face felt rejuvenating. However, her face looked as dull as she’s always thought. Scars on the cheeks from a chickenpox she’d endured during her childhood, a big conspicuous mole under her nose, and a small, faded line of stitches along her hairline. Ugly. 

She could’ve had lunch now, but she wasn’t really hungry. She just stood leaning against the wall facing the mirror, and pretended to be occupied on her cellphone.
